The sitter chose to commission a portrait of himself to commemorate his retirement from a job that he both loved and hated. Due to his ill health, the painting was carried out partly from life and partly from a photograph. This painting was chosen for Th eRoyal Birmingham Society of Artists Summer Exhibition 2009.

Joko modelled for a summer school last year. The piece was chosen for a charity exhibition later that year. The theme of th eexhibition was blue which is why I have depicted Joko in a blue t-shirt.

'Couple' is a painting of an elderly couple in their ninties. Carried out entirely from photographs, as the lady in the picture felt that her beauty had faded. She was very pleased with the end final painting and felt that her hair looked rather nice. In this painting I worked to evoke the cosy comfort and love shared by these two people.
This painting employs a technique were the artist does not use brushes. It is largely based on a intuitive choice of colours, in response to a feeling.
Worcester Cathedral was the setting for an exhibition where 'Cathedral 2' was featured and the work was painted in response to the Cathedral, specifically for the exhibition.
